MATISSE ART DAY

Posted by Picasa SUCH great little budding artist!!
These 5 & 6 year old children learned a good bit about Matisse and his work as a Fauve artist and his collaged paper paintings. After looking at many examples of his art, discussing the similarities, they painted their versions of Matisse Goldfish - with wonderful results!!
Great job to you all!

A SINGLE FLOWER

Posted by Picasa 9x12" Oil on Board
A single flower can bring such joy ~ One is able to really see with appreciation and marvel the intricacy of the one of Gods many creations. Have you ever thought about how many different flowers there actually are...and that each is so very different in appearance and aroma. Quite amazing!

Six Degrees !!

Life is full of surprises!
Today, I received an email from Cindy Michand. I've never met Cindy but my cousin has a vacation home in 7 Devils, NC, beside her and he mentioned she should look at my blog.
She did so and found one of her own painting buddies, Carol Schiff, as a referred artist site.
I've not met Carol but love her work and also that of Cindy. Please visit her site at http://www.cindymichaud.com/ or see the referral link on the side bar.
Hope to meet you both some day until then, I'll continue to follow your work - Happy painting!

STUDY OF REBECCA & ALEX

Posted by Picasa
This is an unfinsihed study (didn't photo the completed piece!) from a summer commission by Rebecca's aunt. (Rebecca is the mom in the painting). Rebecca's aunt loved her so very much and shared many stories with me about Rebecca and her family.
Im honored to have had a part in bringing so much joy to her gift giving for Rebecca's 30th birthday.
Rebecca's aunt passed away, unexpectdly, August 21st, but the love she had for these two I know will live forever.

Third stage

Posted by Picasa The darks are laid in and edges given attention. Enjoyed the freedom of color expression in this painting; The paints were not inhibited by me, nor me by them! I was able to yield to the paint's nature in this work.... sometimes that happens easily and other times not!

Second stage
