Childrens Art Class - Matisse

Posted by Picasa This is more work from a recent childrens art lesson about Matisse. I'm so impressed by their use of color (and not mud!) and, for their ages, the wonderful shape and expression they've chosen as they learned about Matisse and his "Goldfish"!

Posted by Picasa SUCH great little budding artist!!
These 5 & 6 year old children learned a good bit about Matisse and his work as a Fauve artist and his collaged paper paintings. After looking at many examples of his art, discussing the similarities, they painted their versions of Matisse Goldfish - with wonderful results!!
Great job to you all!

Posted by Picasa 9x12" Oil on Board
A single flower can bring such joy ~ One is able to really see with appreciation and marvel the intricacy of the one of Gods many creations. Have you ever thought about how many different flowers there actually are...and that each is so very different in appearance and aroma. Quite amazing!

Posted by Picasa Mosiacs on board
The children had so much fun drawing tropical marine life then building their mosiacs. One of four art projects done by the children in the ART AROUND THE WORLD camp. Great fun!!

Six Degrees !!

Life is full of surprises!
Today, I received an email from Cindy Michand. I've never met Cindy but my cousin has a vacation home in 7 Devils, NC, beside her and he mentioned she should look at my blog.
She did so and found one of her own painting buddies, Carol Schiff, as a referred artist site.
I've not met Carol but love her work and also that of Cindy. Please visit her site at or see the referral link on the side bar.
Hope to meet you both some day until then, I'll continue to follow your work - Happy painting!

Posted by Picasa Acrylic 14x26" ~ Contact me if interested in purchasing.
Originally being inspired by the combination of a challenge from "Different Strokes From Different Folks" and the art of Wayne Theibaud, I did this piece on two 12x12 gallery wrapped canvases mounted onto board. Love the colors and thick paint!!
