Posted by Picasa 12x12" Watercolor
In case some of you aren't aware of the Virtual Sketch Date check it out! This watercolor is the result of the August 'assignment'! Each month a reference photo is selected and many bloggers create from it and then post their works on a given date. Its interesting to see the varoius handlings of the subject.

Beautiful job with my favorite color purple.

I like how you chose to push the purple. I loved the mix of purple and bluish greens in the reference, but see now I could have pushed the purple more. Well done!

'Push the purple' is that how you say it? That's what I wanted to say too.......I was going to say I love the way you faded the detailed green image into the purple background.

I agree with everyone about the purple! It's lovely and works to point to the green--this cabbage is a star!

That green just glows against the deep purple - I love all the shaping you've done in the leaves - it looks wonderful in the close-up.

Great cabbage, love the deep values. Darks are always difficult to get in watercolor. My darks usually result in too heavy of a feel, but yours are really rich.

Hi Laine Lee - your cabbage is terrific, that purple is a knockout, lots of depth and detail too.

It's an honor to list your site on my blog. This painting is a feast for my eyes. Very fresh and great use of color. I'm also just now discovering this new virtual painting group. I love the idea and would also like to share it with my painting friends. Maybe we can all participate next month.
